In
this post we will show some commands to use at the Windows prompt to open,
pause, save the state and shut down a VM from Oracle VirtualBox:
C:\> cd "C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox"
(ou cd %PROGRAMFILES%/Oracle/VirtualBox)
(ou cd %PROGRAMFILES%/Oracle/VirtualBox)
C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox> VBoxManage list vms
C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox> VBoxManage startvm myVM
C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox> VBoxManage controlvm myVM pause
C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox> VBoxManage controlvm myVM poweroff
C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox> VBoxManage controlvm myVM savestate
C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox> VBoxManage controlvm myVM acpipowerbutton
Once you have tested the above commands, a next
step can be to create a .bat file by entering the desired command sequence.
For
example, inside startMyVM.bat insert:
VBoxManage startvm myVM
and pausaMyVM.bat insert:
cd "C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox"
VBoxManage controlvm myVM pause
VBoxManage controlvm myVM savestate
and pausaMyVM.bat insert:
cd "C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox"
VBoxManage controlvm myVM pause
VBoxManage controlvm myVM savestate
