#275 - Rockwell PlantPAx Introduction

- Download the Library of Process Objects from the "Compatibility & Downloads Center". Example: Process Library v5.20.02.

- Configuration (e.g., Analog Input block) is done through the dialog box of the object block in the FBD. It uses the Scientific Apparatus Makers Association (SAMA) diagram format, within Studio5000 (version above v33).

- Controllers: ControlLogix 5580 Controller 1756-L85EP, CompactLogix 5380. These hardware have automatic diagnostic functions. Controller faults such as wire break, IO fault or short-circuits are not needed to be configured as input to function blocks, because they are embedded.

- On FT View Studio, add the Automatic Diagnostics Event Summary view and in the Studio5000 ensure the IO card has the "Enable automatic diagnostics" ticked in the Connection properties.

- Alarms embedded and configurable from Studio5000. Check this Knowledge Base article #1071469. Logix Tag-based alarms are more efficient than HMI based, more precise timestamps, less communication between Controller and HMI, etc. They work as exception rather than cyclic data-polling.

- Instruction Usage: to monitor the usage of the PlantPAx function blocks. Open the Controller Properties, then select the PlantPAx tab and click on the Instruction Usage button.

- Go to PCDC and search for PlantPAx. Select the Download files.

- Sample code from Rockwell's website.

- PlantPAx instruction set.
