In this post we will show you
how to install an EDS in a Rockwell project. Having the EDS of a component
in a project is important to have access to the device's properties. In
this way it is possible to edit the RPI (Request ed Package Interval) that
determines the frequency of communication between the device and the PLC, among
others.
- To find the EDS reference:
- In Studio5000, click on the device and Properties:
Click Download> EDS
Click Go to PCDC Now to Download
Write the component code in
the description, for example EDS file for xxxx-ENT and click on the download
link and select the version and document to download (example, Firmware or
EDS).
To check the correct version
of the EDS, just open the files.eds with a text editor and compare the name of
the catalog.
- Click the device icon in Studio5000 again and click Register EDS File> Yes and follow the Wizard.
After
completing the process, the icon will appear in the Studio5000 project and
you can view and edit the properties.
- Another method using RSLinx:
Click on the device and select Upload EDS
file from Device
